Agamemnon Otero, MBE, is Director & CEO of Energy Garden, Co-founder of Repowering London, and Director of the three Brixton Energy Solar cooperatives. Having had cancer twice, he is a force of nature, empowering communities. Having co-founded the industry advocacy body Community Energy England, he advised the UK government on community energy policy. In 2014, he was made a London Leader; in 2016, he was awarded an MBE for services to community energy; and in 2017, he was named one of the 51 Most Impactful Green Leaders globally by CSR Congress.
Agamemnon will be a keynote speaker at our Summer Event 22-23 July. This is an extraordinary and rare opportunity to hear more about his inspiring projects in-person, and engage more deeply with his ideas.
“Transport is the biggest emitter of carbon emissions in the UK. Energy Garden is a model to allow people to own energy infrastructure, and then to have any surplus invested into things they really believe in, like green spaces in the urban environment, and education for young people around food, energy and biodiversity.”
In this video, Agamemnon talks about his transition from thinking about ‘me’ to ‘we’ and the radical shift that community-owned power is having on reframing the conversation about social, economic and environmental development in a wholistic way.
