Robin Daly

In Recognition of Love and Care

Wow! We started the new year with the rather exciting news that one of our two-time grantees had been made an MBE no less! That person was Robin Daly, founder of the charity Yes to Life.

To give a bit of background, Robin, after losing one of his three daughters to cancer at a tragically young age, was moved to set up Yes to Life some 20 years ago. Since then the charity has gone on to offer advice and support for cancer prevention and treatment throughout the UK. Its message is how much our lifestyle and life choices really matter and that conventional treatments are far from being the be all and end all. As Robin himself says, writing about being given the award, it shows the extent to which such ideas, not especially popular back then, have gained much more recognition and appreciation.

He goes on to say about this work:

Love is a project with no completion date. But I do hope to live to see cancer services that are far kinder to both those giving and those receiving care.

In fact, there is no way we could sum up Robin’s journey nearly as well as he does. Please do have a read as he tells about what and who has given him inspiration, support along the way and the drive to go further:

All we would wish to add is to acknowledge how many of you, each in different ways, share Robin’s commitment to making a difference in the world. Something you do regardless of whether it ever receives ‘official’ recognition or not, but simply because you love and care.
