The one thing we thought we could help facilitate is SPACE and TIME.
Over the last eight years our focus as a charity has been on grant-giving, so why have we now come up with the idea of offering a retreat?
Our first “aha” moment came when we thought about those we’d given grants to and others we know, too; many who are interested in bringing about change in the world in different ways. We recognise that genuine change asks a lot of us, because of, in part, how much it takes to go against the tide of the way things are in the world.
The one thing, we thought, that could help in this process more than anything else (apart from a grant!) is SPACE and TIME.
Space and time to refresh, to recuperate, to truly absorb everything that is happening for us, and to go deeper into what is most important both in our own lives and for life as a whole; to have the opportunity to awaken to new perspectives; to rekindle, revive or even rediscover our meaning and purpose, so that we can return to our lives and our work, vital and rejuvenated.
Read on for more information about the retreat. Places are, however, limited. We are in the process of sending out information to those on our mailing list about how to apply. If you’re interested to find out more, please write to us at gro.noitadnuofecnegremenull@staerter.
We think we have something to offer in bringing together the inner and the outer.
Our second “aha” moment was to acknowledge that between us, in our EF collective, we have spent many years mastering the art of both meditation and movement that explores the intelligence of the body. We have also done a great deal of work participating in and facilitating dialogue and discussion.
So, we confidently can say we have something to offer in bringing together the inner and the outer in a way that could help others who are interested in change. Retreats of this nature feel essential in this critical time on planet Earth that we are living through.
We would emphasise, however, although we can contribute the skills to provide the backdrop, we believe the change that is needed is not at all a top-down model but, front and centre, something we are all involved in; in short, a shared endeavour.
Simple meditation guidance, for anyone at any level, including if you have no experience at all.
Our vision is of a retreat composed of:
- A beautiful space and atmosphere: one where people feel safe and can deeply relax and enjoy being together
- Meditation, movement and inquiry: which we see as naturally fitting together and supporting each other in a way that can benefit everyone
- Simple meditation guidance: suitable for anyone at any level, including those with no experience at all and which you will have the opportunity to develop over the retreat
- Easeful movement sessions: an introduction to the miraculous intelligence of the body
- Facilitated discussions and dialogue sessions: on topics deeply relevant to our own lives and our relationship to the world at large
- Time and space: that is, the time and space to share, be together and also reflect and simply be by ourselves
- Focus on transitioning back: that is, towards the end of the retreat, time to focus on transitioning back to our lives and work in the most positive and fruitful way, including how to incorporate what we have experienced on the retreat and thinking about next steps
Please, come and join us. We think you will be glad you came!

“I appreciated the willingness of everyone to open up, listen, share – this is really grounded in the Emergence Foundation ethos of willingness to hold space for emerging projects and ideas that want to be born rather than staying in the status quo.”
